Benefits of Mixers

Proportional mixers are used to properly mix concentrates with water producing working solutions and make-up solutions. Typical applications for proportional mixing pumps are coolants, cleaners, strippers, degreasers, fertilizers, and fungicides.

  • Save labor by mixing faster than by hand
  • Automatic models save even more by keeping containers full unattended
  • More accurate than hand mixing
  • Safer because less contact with concentrates
  • Lean coolant mixtures can cause excessive tool wear, corrosion on parts and machines, and increased bacteria growth
  • Rich coolant mixtures can cause sticky or slippery residues, operator irritation, and waste expensive concentrate
  • Lean cleaner mixtures won’t perform as intended

Venturi Mixers

Venturi mixers use water passing over an orifice to create suction that draws the concentrate from the container and mixes it with the water. Concentration is controlled by either changing orifice size or turning a metering valve. These units cannot operate with any back pressure, so they can only be used to fill a pail or nearby container. This means the outlet hose cannot be shut off or connected to any device that restricts the liquid flow — no sprayers, in-line systems, or overhead piping.  Accuracy is also affected by water pressure and concentrate level.

Note: Plumbing codes in some areas may require a backflow preventer or other types of controls before the mixing system. Also, it is always recommended (and required for the warranty) to install a screen filter before the mixer.

Water Driven Pumps

Water Driven Pumps use water to drive a piston which pumps concentrate into a mixing chamber where it is mixed with the water. The concentration is not affected by water pressure or the concentrate level, which makes them very accurate. These units can be hooked up in-line or to a hose reel and are typically used in central distribution systems.

Note: Plumbing codes in some areas may require a backflow preventer or other types of controls before the mixing system. Also, it is always recommended (and required for the warranty) to install a water pre-filter before the mixer.
